Micachu and the Shapes announce new album

Three years on from 2009′s Jewellery, Micachu & The Shapes have announced their sophomore album.

Produced by Matthew Herbert, Jewellery was a petite, precious record, driven by raucous guitar lines, blink-and-you-missed-em hooks and a love of sampling anything to hand. It ranked in our top ten albums of that year, and frankly, we always thought it should’ve been bigger.

Anyway, it’s now finally been followed up: Rough Trade will release Never on July 23 [via Pitchfork]. To help promote the release, Micachu has teamed up with frequent collaborator Kwes (who recently signed to Warp), for the second installment in their Kwesachu mixtape series. You can download that over at The Quietus; it features collaborations with Speech Debelle, Ghostpoet, Dels and The Invisible.
