Machinedrum and Om Unit have teamed up for a new project, titled Dream Continuum Both artists spent 2011 exploring the “sweet spot” between jungle and footwork; most notably on Machinedrum’s Ecstasy Boom EP (a companion piece to Room(s), his last album for Planet Mu) and Om Unit’s “footwork jungle” experiments under the alias Philip D. Kick, so it makes sense that they’d team up. Dream Continuum’s first release will be the Reworkz EP on Planet Mu, a three-track record that looks to the golden age of hardcore and jungle – so euphoric piano chords, rudeboy samples and rugged basslines – for inspiration. You can stream samples and pre-order it here. Planet Mu will release Reworkz on March 26. For those who can’t wait, Machinedrum’s 2011 FACT mix also features a healthy blend of classic hardcore, footwork, jungle and more.
