Little Dragon x Tycho x Cloudeater - Live @ The Masquerade (10/21/2011)
Yeah that’s moi on the right….
My God this show was unbelievable. This and a few other isolated events that occur only occasionally are what enable me to appreciate the city I live in. The vibe in the entire venue was so chill… It felt as if the entire audience became one as Little Dragon played. This was without a doubt one of the best shows I’ve been to. To top it off Tycho went up before them to set the mood off even more. I initially attended the show to solely see Tycho as I’ve been listening to Scott Hansen since I was about 14, but I was instantly captivated by Little Dragon. They totally changed my outlook on them as a band. I’ll most definitely be bumping to more of their tunes from now on…
I intended on going to this show to possibly get a mini interview with Tycho. It was his first time in Atlanta, and being that I really enjoy his music I wanted to ask him a few questions regarding his production methods, equipment choices, musical inspiration and preferences within music in general yet I didn’t get a chance to fully accomplish my goal… This was partly my fault. I was so thrilled by the show that I couldn’t fathom a decent enough explanation of my intentions to him… Embarrassment is the least of what I was feeling at the moment. This was the same thing that happened to me a few days earlier at another show which featured Star Slinger, Shigeto, Shlohmo and Time Warp…… I’ve nothing more to say about the matter. I’ve just got to pull it together. Improvement is essential!!
Although I might not have had any significant chats with the artists I had a really good chat with a scout from the Ghostly International record label, so that week wasn’t a total waist. He gave me some very promising news about Shigeto saying that he plans on releasing another EP soon. He described it as “wonderful and texture driven” so I can’t wait to hear word from this. I plan on attended another Shigeto show on Sunday… I’ll make up for that bitter sweet weeks loss then.
